A mother reclined on a chair comforting her daughter who sat
at her feet sobbing uncontrollably, her head buried in her lap.
"Everyone keeps telling me that I was utterly helpless
when I had to hand over the custody of my son but I can't help feeling guilty
that I let him go," she managed between her sobs.
"Will he know the truth one day Mom?" she asked
with hope filled in her eyes.
"Will he know that it wasn't in my hands and that
I'm not the cold hearted and despicable mother like his father told him but
that I love him - so much," her voice cracked at the last words.
Her mother stayed silent but a tear rolled down her face
as she placed a hand on her daughter's forehead and a fresh torrent of cries
emerged from her throat.

Very unusual take on the prompt, and extremely well-written!!
There are many such situations when only the person herself/himself knows the truth.

This post is close to my heart. Like almost everything I write, it too has been drawn from personal experiences. And yes I hope that one day her son understands her plight and brings her happiness...
Thank you all so much once again! :)
